Vancouver is hosting the JUNO Awards later this month, which is bringing lots of free music events around the city.  The JUNO Awards and CBC Kids is inviting families to attend the free Junior JUNOS at Let’s Hear it! Live – Vancouver.

The event takes place on Saturday, March 24 from 9 am-12:30 pm at the Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza.  There will be live performances by JUNO Award nominees for Children’s Album of the Year.  The performers at this event include Big Block Singsong, Bobs & LoLo, The Moblees and Splash’N Boots.  The Junior JUNOS will be hosted by CBC Kids friends Tony and Gary the Unicorn.

The event will also have crafts, interactive activities, and the opportunity to meet favourite CBC Kids friends PJ Masks for hugs and photos.

Free Two-Day Outdoor Music Festival, “Let’s Hear it! Live” in Vancouver on March 23, 2018 & March 24, 2018

The JUNO Awards is coming to Vancouver on Sunday, March 25, 2018.  With this event on its way, there are lots of free music events happening around the city.  The latest event to be added is a two-day music festival called Let’s Hear it! Live – Vancouver.

On Friday, March 23 from 12 pm-9 pm and on Saturday, March 24 from 12:50 pm-9 pm, you can enjoy the two-day music festival at the North Plaza of the Vancouver Art Gallery in Downtown Vancouver.  The festival is presented by CBC Vancouver and CBC Music, and supported by Creative BC & The Province of British Columbia.  The event will feature top talent from around BC in various music genres and will be hosted by CBC favourites Dan Burritt, Gloria Macarenko, Julie Nesrallah, Stephen Quinn, and Lien Yeung.

Sea to Sky Gondola Free For Kids Ages 12 & Under From March 17, 2018 – March 29, 2018

Spring is almost here.  It brings sunny weather and lots of free events.  This Spring, the Sea to Sky Gondola has a free event that starts this weekend.

The Sea to Sky Gondola is offering free rides for up to three children 12 & under when they are accompanied by an adult or senior.  The Secret Spring Break Deal is happening from Saturday, March 17 to Thursday, March 29 during business hours.  To receive free ride tickets for children, an adult or senior must purchase a day ticket along with mentioning the Secret Spring Break Deal at the ticket window.

The Sea to Sky Gondola has lots of activities, including snowshoeing, tubing, playgrounds and exploring.  Some of these activities are at an additional cost.  In addition to these activities, there will be children’s activities at the summit.

Free Event: JUNO Photography Exhibition From March 12, 2018 – April 7, 2018

Vancouver is hosting the JUNO Awards on Sunday, March 25, 2018.  With this event approaching soon, there are a lot of other JUNO events happening around the city to enjoy.  One of the other events that is happening is the JUNO Photography Exhibit and it’s completely free.

From March 12 until April 7, you can check out the photography exhibit at the Pendulum Gallery in Vancouver.  The event runs Monday to Friday from 9 am-5 pm.  The exhibit showcases the past 40+ years of Canadian music and the JUNO Awards.  It features photos that capture candid moments backstage, performances on-stage, the JUNO Awards’ 40th Anniversary book photos, and never before seen photos taken by Canada’s foremost rock roll photographers.  Some of the photos featured in the exhibit were taken by iPhoto Inc., Barry Roden, Bruce Cole, Grant Martin, Tom Sandler, George Pimental, Alex Urosevic, and Ryan Bolton.

Free Event: JUNO Fan Fare Presented by CBC Music on March 24, 2018

Vancouver is hosting the JUNO awards later this month.  With this award show, there comes lots of celebrations leading up to the big event, including some free shows.  CBC Music will be presenting a free event called JUNO Fan Fare on Saturday, March 24, 2018.

The JUNO Fan Fare is your chance to take a selfie with your favourite artist.  There are three time slots from 12 pm-3 pm on Saturday, March 24 at Metropolis at Metrotown, where you can take a selfie with your favourite artist from one of the six groups you choose from.  The artists that will be at the event, include, Aaron Pritchett, Arkells, Chad Brownlee, Dallas Smith, Dan Davidson, Daniel Caesar, High Valley, James Barker Band, Jess Moskaluke, Marianas Trench, Lights, Ria Mae, Ruth B., Scott Helman, Shawn Hook, Theory, Tim Hicks and Virginia to Vegas.

At the event, there will be live performances by Jess Moskaluke, High Valley, Ria Mae, Scott Helman, and Tim Hicks.  The event will also have a live DJ, DAVE (Dave Ritter of The Strumbellas).  The entire event will be hosted by CBC Music’s Odario Williams, Amanda Parris and CBC Vancouver’s Anita Bathe.  While there, you also have a chance to win giveaways, including JUNO Awards merchandise and 2018 JUNO Awards Red Carpet passes.

The event is completely free, but you must order a ticket online beforehand as this is a first-come, first served basis event.

Climb the Urban Grind at Vancouver’s Harbour Centre this March 2018

Don’t let the Grouse Grind seasonal close get you down this March.  The Vancouver Harbour Centre is offering another great alternative for fitness enthusiasts.  The Urban Grind is back for another year.

Every Tuesday in March from 4:30 pm-6:30 pm, Vancouverites can take the trek up 633 steps to the top of Vancouver’s Harbour Centre.  The 28 flight of stairs might sound intimidating, but the reward is priceless. Once you reach the top, you’ll have 360º aerial view of Vancouver.  But that’s not the only reward, you’ll also get a free beer and a $5 voucher for the Harbour Centre food court with a $5 entry fee.  That means it’ll be pretty much free if you take advantage of the food and beer.  Day admission to the top for adults is $17.50, so this is one heck of a deal if you’re up for a challenge!

Free Ice Skating at Robson Square Ice Rink in Downtown Vancouver from December 1 2017 – February 2018

Vancouver’s one and only outdoor skating rink is officially open for the season.  The popular ice skating event is back at Robson Square in Downtown Vancouver.

The rink officially opened on December 1 and will stay open until the end of February 2018.  The rink is open 7 days a week including Christmas and New Year’s with varying hours.  You can enjoy the rink Sunday to Thursday from 9 am-9 pm and on Friday’s and Saturday’s from 9 am-11 pm.  Holiday hours will differ from normal operating hours so be sure to visit the Robson Square website for complete hour details.

Admission to skate at the outdoor rink this season is completely free, but if you need skates, you can rent a pair at cost, just be sure to bring cash.  If you haven’t been before, this free event is truly magical on a cold winters night!

Free Firework Shows on Halloween Night 2017 in Vancouver and Richmond

Free Movies at Cineplex Community Day on October 14, 2017

Movie lovers rejoice!  Free movies are coming to a theatre near you this week.  Cineplex will be hosting a Community Day event with free movies at select theatre locations across Canada.  This event will support the WE Charity, a movement that empowers you to create positive change, with 100% of the Proceeds from donations and select concession items going to the charity.

On the morning of Saturday, October 14th, you can catch a free movie at 9:30 am at select Cineplex locations.  Cineplex will host five different movies on Saturday morning, including Kung Fu Panda 3, Trolls, Ice Age: Collision Course, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.  With doors opening at 9 am, you’ll want to arrive early, because seating is limited and on a first come, first served basis.  

As an added bonus to this event, they will be selling a number of concession items for $2.50, including popcorn, select drinks and candy!  Cineplex will also offer 100 bonus SCENE points for concession purchases made of $10 or more before taxes on October 14th before 11 am.

If you’d like to donate to the WE Charity, you can do so by donating $2, which gives you one of five change bracelets in a variety of colours sporting different positive messages.

Free & Cheap Pumpkin Patches in Metro Vancouver & the Fraser Valley 2017

Autumn is officially here, which means pumpkin season is in full force.  Luckily for us, local farms open their doors to visitors for their annual pumpkin patches, every year, starting in late September/early October.  Hands down, I’d say this is the best way to get a pumpkin and has to be my favourite fall activity.  So, I did some research and found pumpkin patches around Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley that will cost less than $15 per person, with some that even offer free admission.  So get ready to bundle up, bring a camera and have some fun!  If you loved this post, you might also enjoy reading Penny Lavish’s posts on free and inexpensive corn mazes, haunted attractions, and Halloween attractions.
