Free Movies at Cineplex Community Day on October 14, 2017

Movie lovers rejoice!  Free movies are coming to a theatre near you this week.  Cineplex will be hosting a Community Day event with free movies at select theatre locations across Canada.  This event will support the WE Charity, a movement that empowers you to create positive change, with 100% of the Proceeds from donations and select concession items going to the charity.

On the morning of Saturday, October 14th, you can catch a free movie at 9:30 am at select Cineplex locations.  Cineplex will host five different movies on Saturday morning, including Kung Fu Panda 3, Trolls, Ice Age: Collision Course, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.  With doors opening at 9 am, you’ll want to arrive early, because seating is limited and on a first come, first served basis.  

As an added bonus to this event, they will be selling a number of concession items for $2.50, including popcorn, select drinks and candy!  Cineplex will also offer 100 bonus SCENE points for concession purchases made of $10 or more before taxes on October 14th before 11 am.

If you’d like to donate to the WE Charity, you can do so by donating $2, which gives you one of five change bracelets in a variety of colours sporting different positive messages.

Free & Cheap Halloween Attractions in Metro Vancouver & the Fraser Valley this October 2017

Halloween is near and that’s reason enough to celebrate with some great events.  Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley have many Halloween attractions this year that aren’t so spooky.  I’ve found many inexpensive Halloween events that are under $15 a person, with some even being free.  If you love Halloween and Fall, be sure to visit Penny Lavish’s post on free and frugal pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and haunted attractions in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.

The Stanley Park Hallowe’en Ghost Train Alien Invasion

Free & Cheap Pumpkin Patches in Metro Vancouver & the Fraser Valley 2017

Autumn is officially here, which means pumpkin season is in full force.  Luckily for us, local farms open their doors to visitors for their annual pumpkin patches, every year, starting in late September/early October.  Hands down, I’d say this is the best way to get a pumpkin and has to be my favourite fall activity.  So, I did some research and found pumpkin patches around Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley that will cost less than $15 per person, with some that even offer free admission.  So get ready to bundle up, bring a camera and have some fun!  If you loved this post, you might also enjoy reading Penny Lavish’s posts on free and inexpensive corn mazes, haunted attractions, and Halloween attractions.

Free Outdoor Movies at Queen’s Park Stadium in New Westminster, this Summer, Every Friday Night in July and August 2017

Enjoy movies under the stars in New Westminster this summer.  Free outdoor movies are back for another year at Queen’s Park Stadium.

Every Friday night from July 7 – August 25, the City of New Westminster has partnered with G&F Financial Group, Derrick Thornhill and Park Georgia Realty to bring outdoor movies to the park this summer.  The movie series will run over eight weeks and will feature eight different movies.  The movies are all family-friendly and will feature some old classics, as well as some great kids movies.  The movies will begin at dusk, around 9 pm, and doors will open at 7 pm.

Seating at this event will be on the grass, so be sure to bring a chair or a blanket to sit on while you watch the show.  You may also want to bring snacks, but if you forget, the Hyack Football Team will be hosting a concession that will include light snacks and soda pop beverages.  So grab your friends, family or loved ones, and a blanket and get ready to relax and watch a movie in the great outdoors!

Summer in North Vancouver is about to become a little more exciting.  The ever so popular Family Movie Nights in the Plaza are back for another year.

On Friday July 17 & 21 and Friday August 4 & 18, the City of North Vancouver and the North Vancouver City Library are hosting free outdoor movies.  The four night movie series will feature four family-friendly movies at the Civic Plaza.  Each night, the movies will begin at sunset (times listed below) and are weather permitting.  Seating is limited and guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on.  With a great line-up of movies, this event won’t disappoint!

Another great outdoor movie under the stars event is coming to Metro Vancouver.  The Theatre Under the Stars – Outdoor Movie Nights is coming to Surrey this July.

From July 7 – July 28, The Shops at Morgan Crossing will be hosting free outdoor movie nights every Friday night.  The movies will begin at dusk and will be playing between building AB and E (Near Winners).  The free movies are all family-friendly.

It is recommended that you bring a chair or a blanket for a comfortable seat and you’ll want to arrive early to get a good seat at the event.  As an extra  bonus, Coldwell Banker Marquise Realty will be handing out complimentary popcorn.  And for those of you that would like to get dinner before the movie, Thrifty Foods will be hosting a BBQ on event days.  The Shops at Morgan Crossing will also have some great deals at some of the stores that are exclusive to event days only.

Enjoy movies under the stars this summer.  In July and August, free outdoor movie nights are coming to Cloverdale.

Every Friday night from July 7 – August 25, you can catch a free flick outdoors.  The free outdoor movies will alternate locations each week between Don Christian Recreation Centre and Katzie Elementary School.  The movies will begin at dusk, but there will be free activities starting at 8 pm.

There’s a great line-up of movies scheduled for the eight weeks and all of them are family-friendly.  Seating at this event will be on the grass, so bring a chair or a blanket to get comfortable on.  More importantly, don’t forget to bring some snacks for the movie.

Please note, the movie nights are weather permitting so if it looks like it might rain, be sure to call Cloverdale Recreation Centre at 604-598-7960 to find out if the event has been cancelled.

Free Drive-In Movie Theatre at Lansdowne Centre in Richmond BC this Summer from July 5 – August 30 2017

Back for another year is the ever so popular Starlight Theatre Drive-In Series.  It’s a blast from the past as this series offers free movies from the comfort of your car and it’s all happening in Richmond.

Every Wednesday at dusk from July 5 – August 30, you can enjoy the free drive-in movie theatre at Lansdown Centre in Richmond.  The Starlight Theatre Drive-In Movie Series will hold 200 cars each night, but also offers pedestrians a front row seat to the movies.  Parking and seating is on a first come, first served basis.  If you end up being too early though, Lansdowne Centre restaurants will be offering dinner and drink specials before the show.  As an extra bonus this year, if you RSVP to the event on the Lansdowne Centre Facebook event page, you will be entered to win a $25 gift card for a Lansdowne Centre restaurant of your choice.

The movies will begin at sunset on a huge screen.  Each night they’ll feature different movie genres from kid movies to big kid movies.  Audio for the movie will be broadcasted over FM radio.  This will make the experience more true to olden days!  So pick out a day and/or a movie to go to, because this is a once in a lifetime experience that you can enjoy all for free!

Each Tuesday night will feature a different movies that every age can enjoy.  The movies are displayed on a massive four-storey inflatable screen.  Seating is first come, first serve and you are advised to bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on.  You can also reserve a Topshop Canada VIP Gold Circle seat at cost.  Showing up early also has many other benefits other than just getting a good seat.  If you’re there early, you’ll be able to partake in games, prizes and giveaways!

The event will also have food options on site for you to order at cost.  There will be many food trucks each Tuesday night, as well as, you can order food from local restaurants to be delivered to your seat at the show.  For more information on food options, visit the Outdoor Movies BC Facebook page.

At the event, there will be a free bike concierge service while you enjoy the flick, provided by The Better Environmentally Sound Transportation (BEST) Bike Valet.  There will also be free Evo parking for Evo Car Share members along North Lagoon Drive near the event site, just look for the signs.

This is a family-friendly event though, so alcohol and smoking on site is not permitted.

This is a highly anticipated event and a summer event favourite, so be sure to check it out sometime this season!
