CBC Musical Nooners Free Weekday Concerts in Downtown Vancouver Return for Another Year from July 7 – August 25 2017

Back for its eighth year, CBC Musical Nooners returns this summer.  The highly popular event features free concerts for six weeks. 

CBC Musical Nooners will begin Friday, July 7 and will run every weekday until August 25.  That’s right, free live concerts happen Monday to Friday in Downtown Vancouver from 12 pm- 1 pm at the CBC Vancouver Outdoor Stage.  The concerts will feature a variety of music genres by talented musicians and artists.   So if you live, work or play Downtown Vancouver this summer, be sure to check out the free CBC Musical Nooners concerts!

With hits like “Cheap Thrills” and “Heart 2 Heart”, synthy art-pop artists Fake Shark will kick off Musical Nooners. Get ready to move to their punky, funky, and toe tapping jams.

Then move your senses over to Juno award winning indie rock, feel good band, Said the Whale.  Their new album “As Long As Your Eyes Are Wide” has given us the top twenty hit “I Will Follow You”. This afternoon of hit music is not to be missed!

Free Outdoor Movie Nights in Cloverdale this Summer, Every Friday Night in July and August 2017

Enjoy movies under the stars this summer.  In July and August, free outdoor movie nights are coming to Cloverdale.

Every Friday night from July 7 – August 25, you can catch a free flick outdoors.  The free outdoor movies will alternate locations each week between Don Christian Recreation Centre and Katzie Elementary School.  The movies will begin at dusk, but there will be free activities starting at 8 pm.

There’s a great line-up of movies scheduled for the eight weeks and all of them are family-friendly.  Seating at this event will be on the grass, so bring a chair or a blanket to get comfortable on.  More importantly, don’t forget to bring some snacks for the movie.

Please note, the movie nights are weather permitting so if it looks like it might rain, be sure to call Cloverdale Recreation Centre at 604-598-7960 to find out if the event has been cancelled.

Cool down for free this summer!  The City of Surrey is offering free public swimming at all eight of their outdoor pools all summer long.

From July 1 until September 4, you can swim at one of the eight outdoor pools in Surrey during public swim hours.  Schedules will vary pool by pool, so it is recommended that you check your nearest pool schedule by visiting the Tide’s Out website swim schedule page.  On a warm summer’s day, this is the perfect way to cool off for locals.

Free Bollywood Aerobics Classes this Summer for the Month of July 2017 in Surrey

Surrey is offering a fun-filled free workout class this July.  Enjoy free Bollywood aerobics classes this summer.

Every Thursday in July, there will be Bollywood aerobics classes happening at the Old Grosvenor Road School Site.  From 5:30 pm-6:50 pm, you can join in on a free cardio workout that combines Indian dance moves with muscle strengthening to Bollywood music.

It is recommended that you wear runners, comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.  If you’re looking to switch out your workout routine, try something new or just looking for a free Bollywood aerobics class, then this is definitely a class to go to!  You’ll be working out without even knowing it and I can’t think of a better way to do it, outdoors on a beautiful summer night.

Celebrate emergency preparedness week at Science World this Sunday for free!  The City of Vancouver and Science World are hosting an interactive and fun event to promote awareness toward emergency preparedness.  The event takes place from 10 am to 6 pm on Sunday, May 7 located at Science World at TELUS WORLD of SCIENCE in Vancouver.

At the event, there will be displays, activities and a number of event partners on site.  In It Together: An Emergency Preparedness week is a national awareness initiative to encourage Canadians to take three simple steps to become better prepared for emergencies, including, to know the risks, make a plan and to get an emergency kit.  This event is sure to be loads of fun and is open to all ages.

Tulips of the Valley Returns this April for Spring 2017 in Chilliwack, BC

This April get out and enjoy some sun and flowers.  The Tulips of the Valley returns for another year in Chilliwack this Spring.

The Tulips of the Valley is opening this spring at their new location this April 18 and runs until April 30.  The colder weather in the Lower Mainland has delayed opening day, since they want visitors to enjoy all the beautiful colours of the tulips in full bloom.

The Tulips of the Valley offers low admission prices for everyone.  Admission prices start at $3 for youth 6-16 and $6.50 for adults on weekdays with advance purchase online.  Ticket prices vary and the most expensive ticket is $20 to watch the sunrise.  They also offer a deal on admission price for local’s for 1/2 price admission for adults and kids are free with one person of having proof of address.  On April 20, residents that live in Chilliwack, Agassiz, Harrison, Mission and Hope can get this deal.  They also have a second day where they offer half price admission for residents that live in Chilliwack, Abbotsford and Langley on Thursday, April 27.

At the fields, they’ll have different food vendors there, including fresh Dutch Stroopwafels.  If you haven’t had a Stroopwafel, you’re missing out, it’s mouthwatering good!

And if you loved the flowers, you can also buy fresh tulips, potted tulips and photo cards to take home with you.  An all around great event/activity to do this Spring that you won’t want to miss!
