CBC Musical Nooners Free Weekday Concerts in Downtown Vancouver Return for Another Year from July 7 – August 25 2017

Back for its eighth year, CBC Musical Nooners returns this summer.  The highly popular event features free concerts for six weeks. 

CBC Musical Nooners will begin Friday, July 7 and will run every weekday until August 25.  That’s right, free live concerts happen Monday to Friday in Downtown Vancouver from 12 pm- 1 pm at the CBC Vancouver Outdoor Stage.  The concerts will feature a variety of music genres by talented musicians and artists.   So if you live, work or play Downtown Vancouver this summer, be sure to check out the free CBC Musical Nooners concerts!

With hits like “Cheap Thrills” and “Heart 2 Heart”, synthy art-pop artists Fake Shark will kick off Musical Nooners. Get ready to move to their punky, funky, and toe tapping jams.

Then move your senses over to Juno award winning indie rock, feel good band, Said the Whale.  Their new album “As Long As Your Eyes Are Wide” has given us the top twenty hit “I Will Follow You”. This afternoon of hit music is not to be missed!

Free Outdoor Movie Nights in Cloverdale this Summer, Every Friday Night in July and August 2017


Enjoy movies under the stars this summer.  In July and August, free outdoor movie nights are coming to Cloverdale.

Every Friday night from July 7 – August 25, you can catch a free flick outdoors.  The free outdoor movies will alternate locations each week between Don Christian Recreation Centre and Katzie Elementary School.  The movies will begin at dusk, but there will be free activities starting at 8 pm.

There’s a great line-up of movies scheduled for the eight weeks and all of them are family-friendly.  Seating at this event will be on the grass, so bring a chair or a blanket to get comfortable on.  More importantly, don’t forget to bring some snacks for the movie.

Please note, the movie nights are weather permitting so if it looks like it might rain, be sure to call Cloverdale Recreation Centre at 604-598-7960 to find out if the event has been cancelled.

Cool down for free this summer!  The City of Surrey is offering free public swimming at all eight of their outdoor pools all summer long.

From July 1 until September 4, you can swim at one of the eight outdoor pools in Surrey during public swim hours.  Schedules will vary pool by pool, so it is recommended that you check your nearest pool schedule by visiting the Tide’s Out website swim schedule page.  On a warm summer’s day, this is the perfect way to cool off for locals.

Free Bollywood Aerobics Classes this Summer for the Month of July 2017 in Surrey

Surrey is offering a fun-filled free workout class this July.  Enjoy free Bollywood aerobics classes this summer.

Every Thursday in July, there will be Bollywood aerobics classes happening at the Old Grosvenor Road School Site.  From 5:30 pm-6:50 pm, you can join in on a free cardio workout that combines Indian dance moves with muscle strengthening to Bollywood music.

It is recommended that you wear runners, comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.  If you’re looking to switch out your workout routine, try something new or just looking for a free Bollywood aerobics class, then this is definitely a class to go to!  You’ll be working out without even knowing it and I can’t think of a better way to do it, outdoors on a beautiful summer night.

Free Canada Day Celebration at Canada Place in Vancouver for Canada’s 150th Birthday

Canada’s 150th birthday is almost here and you can celebrate this year at the largest Canada Day celebration outside our nation’s capital in Vancouver at Canada Place.

The Canada Day celebration at Canada Place is a two day event happening on July 1 and July 2.  On Saturday, July 1, the festivities will take place from 9:45 am-10:50 pm and will include live performances, youth zone, Canadian Forces zone, Canada150 zone, kids zone, North Point Lounge serving beer and wine, fireworks and so much more.  Some of the performers that will be at the event include Sam Roberts, FEFE, Emerson Drive, Hey Ocean!, Dragonette, Madeline Merlo, The Matinee, and many more. 

On Sunday, July 2, some of the festivities that will take place will be a Canada150 parade, a pancake breakfast, live performances, Canada150 zone, and so much more.

Surrey Canada Day’s Free Event for Canada’s 150th Birthday

Celebrate Canada Day this year at one of the largest celebrations in the country.  The Surrey Canada Day event is back for another year and it brings a lot of fun and free activities throughout the day.

On July 1 from 10 am-11 pm, Surrey will be hosting it’s annual celebrations at Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre.  The event this year will feature food trucks, fireworks, games land, kids world, an age-friendly activity tent, rides, zipline, Science World and so much more for every age.  There will also be a Canada 150 zone which will feature Canadian-themed activities and crafts, local performances by First Nations performers, hoop dancers, French-Canadian artists and more.

The Surrey Canada Day event will also feature a huge number of performances that will include, Hedley, along with Magic!, Chilliwack, Sway, DJ Flipout, Good for Grapes, One More Girl, Marie Hui, One More Girl, The Big Shiny Band, Aché Brasil, an Indigenous Showcase, Shiamak’s Vancouver Dance Team, RupLoops, Vancity Bhangra, Best Night Ever, Music with Marnie, Matt Henry, Sam the Astronaut, Blink Acro, and Cedar Hills Caledonian Pipe Band.

North Vancouver Free Canada Day Celebrations at Waterfront Park

As Canada’s 150th birthday quickly approaches, The Rotary Club of Lions Gate has planned an exciting family-friendly event to celebrate in North Vancouver.

The North Vancouver Canada Day Celebration is an all ages, free event.  The event takes place on Friday, July 1 from 12 pm-4 pm at Waterfront Park in North Vancouver.  At the event, there will be food trucks, live entertainment, and activities for all ages.  The event will celebrate moments through Canadian history, embracing Canada’s identity as a land of equality, inclusion and opportunity.

As an extra bonus for this years big birthday, there will also be a special evening event that runs from 6:30 pm-10:30 pm.  The night event will include a free live concert in the park, food trucks, a beer & wine garden featuring Red Truck Brewing and Wines from Baillie- Grohman, and fireworks.

Free Outdoor Yoga Classes in Vancouver at Kits Beach and Main Street this Summer 2017

Summer is in the air and it brings free events and activities all summer long in Metro Vancouver.  The largest free outdoor yoga program in Western Canada is beginning tomorrow and best of all, it’s in our backyard!

This program is run by the generous people at Mat Collective.  From June 1 until August 31, they’ll be offering free outdoor yoga classes all week long.  Each class is scheduled at different times of the week, but they offer a total of 15 outdoor classes, so there’s lots of time to soak in the sun, quite literally, ha!  Classes are held at two locations in Vancouver, including, Kits Beach and Main Street.

They offer a class for everyone, whether you’re a beginner or an expert in your yoga practice.  Some of the different yoga classes they offer are, Kundalini, Hatha, Power Hatha, Hatha Flow, Flow, and more.  With this many options, you’re sure to find a great class to enjoy this summer.  And if you can’t make the classes this summer, they run free classes indoor all year long.

Night markets are back in Metro Vancouver for the 2017 Spring and Summer season.  Night markets run on weekends at night and are a favourite activity for locals.  They are inexpensive to attend, with some even offering free admission!  Overall, night markets are an affordable, low cost night of fun where you can enjoy a night of delicious food (seriously, mouth-watering), great deals on merchandise and great entertainment, all in one place.  But that’s not all you’ll find at the night markets, some of them offer kids games and rides, beer gardens (19+),  organic foods including produce and meat, light shows, and so much more! 

If you haven’t been before, be prepared with cash, good shoes (because you’ll want to spend all night there), and an empty stomach.  Each and every market differs from the next, so make sure to check them all out this summer!

This April get out and enjoy some sun and flowers.  The Tulips of the Valley returns for another year in Chilliwack this Spring.

The Tulips of the Valley is opening this spring at their new location this April 18 and runs until April 30.  The colder weather in the Lower Mainland has delayed opening day, since they want visitors to enjoy all the beautiful colours of the tulips in full bloom.

The Tulips of the Valley offers low admission prices for everyone.  Admission prices start at $3 for youth 6-16 and $6.50 for adults on weekdays with advance purchase online.  Ticket prices vary and the most expensive ticket is $20 to watch the sunrise.  They also offer a deal on admission price for local’s for 1/2 price admission for adults and kids are free with one person of having proof of address.  On April 20, residents that live in Chilliwack, Agassiz, Harrison, Mission and Hope can get this deal.  They also have a second day where they offer half price admission for residents that live in Chilliwack, Abbotsford and Langley on Thursday, April 27.

At the fields, they’ll have different food vendors there, including fresh Dutch Stroopwafels.  If you haven’t had a Stroopwafel, you’re missing out, it’s mouthwatering good!

And if you loved the flowers, you can also buy fresh tulips, potted tulips and photo cards to take home with you.  An all around great event/activity to do this Spring that you won’t want to miss!
