Metro Vancouver’s Free & Cheap Events for Thanksgiving Long Weekend

Thanksgiving weekend is coming around the corner quick.  With the long weekend ahead, I’m sure you’re looking for some frugal fun.  Well you’re in luck!  The Lower Mainland has lots of fun free & cheap events for the long weekend, including pumpkin patches, Halloween events, farmers markets, Fort Langley’s Cranberry Festival, the Harvest Festival, and lots more!  I’ve found a bunch of frugal events for $15 or less or for FREE!  Below is a list of the long weekend events, but be sure to click on the links above to find even more frugal events for the weekend!  Okay, let’s get started!

Friday

Richmond Night Market 

What: At the market you can sample delicious food from food trucks, play carnival games, enjoy nightly entertainment performances, and shop for merchandise from a variety of vendors!  Pick up a “Sweet Deals Coupon Book” at the entrance or at the info booth area for coupons offering over $250 in savings!  Click here for more info.

Admission: $2.75 for Regular Admission.  Free Admission for Children 10 & under and Seniors 60 & up.

Downtown & Waterfront Free Walking Tours

What: A walking tour with a complete overview of downtown Vancouver with some history, street art, and more in 90 minutes.  Click here to find more info.

Where: 701 W Georgia St., Vancouver, BC at Pacific Centre Mall at the Georgia St. entrance.

Admission: Free

When: Monday’s and Friday’s at 11am

Vancouver International Film Festival 2015

What: One of the largest film festivals in North America.  Must have an annual membership for $2.  Click here for more info.

Where: Various locations in Vancouver, BC.

Admission: Prices vary for each film, but there are lots of films under $15.  Keep in mind of any additional fees.

When: September 24 – October 9

The Vegabond Players Presents: Other Desert Cities

What: Set in Palm Springs, this powerful drama of politics, passion and family secrets was a finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.  Click here for more info.

Where: Queens Park, New Westminster, BC at The Bernie Legge Theatre.

Admission: $15 Adult, $13 Seniors/Students; $10 preview on October 1 & 2.

When: October 1 – 24 from Thursday to Saturday at 8 pm & Sunday matinees at 2 pm.

By Donation Indoor Yoga by Dude Chilling Collective

What: Vancouver yoga instructors are coming together to give you free Hatha Yoga classes Monday to Friday!  Click here or visit our blog post for more info.

Vancouverite: A Comedy Show 

What: This comedy show features funny stories about adjusting to Vancouver from comedians.  Click here for more info.

Movies in the Morgue: Halloween Special

What: A series of film screenings for Halloween being held at the old Vancouver city morgue.  “Friday the Thirteenth” is playing on October 8 and “The Shinning” on October 10.  Click here to find more info.

Fort Langley’s 20th Annual Cranberry Festival

What: There will be entertainment, kid’s activities, vendors, food, a pancake breakfast, and cranberries.  There is a free shuttle from Trinity Western University and Walnut Grove Secondary, starting at 9:30 am, going every 15 minutes approximately.  Click here to find more info.

Come Try Hockey

Thanksgiving Toonie Skate
