The start of summer is almost officially here!  Although, a lot of us probably feel like it started awhile ago since the weather has been so nice!  It actually officially starts on June 21!  But, I’ve got even better news than that!  This week brings a lot of fun unique events!  You’ll also find free community events, FIFA fan zone for free, free concerts at the TD International Jazz Festival, and so much more!  This week includes 40 exciting events, with 26 of them being free, and the rest are under $15!  Be sure to check out the whole list though, as there are many other events you won’t want to miss out on!  Also, for more events this week, check out the post on farmers markets to see a complete list for Metro Vancouver.

1. FIFA Fan Zone – Offers activities for all ages, including live entertainment by talented Canadian bands, soccer demos, athlete autograph opportunities, contests and giveaways, interactive displays, as well as screenings of selected matches and appearances by the official FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 mascot Shuéme.  Click here for more details.  Click here for schedule of events.

2. Kits Space Beach Yoga – Kits Space is offering free yoga for every age and ability.  No previous experience needed.  Bring a mat or towel.  Tips are welcome to help us provide materials for free drawing classes at the Vancouver Public Library.  For more info, click here.

13. TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival – Produced by the Coastal Jazz and Blues Society, there will be 1800 musicians performing in over 300 shows!  150 of those shows are free.  The festival will be at multiple locations in Vancouver for two weeks!  Click here for more info.

19. The Gathering Festival 2015 – Free music and arts festival.  It’s a multidimensional and multi-day community festival that celebrates the diversity and unique make up of Vancouver’s Downtown South.  Click here for more info.

20. Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival – On Friday, there will be an eye-dotting ceremony and evening opening concert.  Saturday and Sunday continues with entertainment, food, children’s activities, art installations, the Urban Tea Lounge, shopping, and dragon boat racing!  Click here for more info.

26. Gordon MacMillan Southam Observatory – Star gazing at it’s finest!  The observatory has a 1/2 metre Cassegrain telescope to see the night skies!  There is staff there to guide you and answer your questions.  For more info, click here.
