Attention!  This week’s “Frugal Fun!” is a must read!  Twenty-four exciting free events are happening around Vancouver and surrounding areas all week-long.  For an extra special treat, I’ve included $15 or less activities in the list.  Free events this week include: yoga, dance performances, a play performance, and more!  Don’t forget, it’s the last week to see the Andy Warhol exhibit and to adopt a tree for free!  Be sure to check the whole list as you won’t want to miss a thing!  For more details, below is a list of events for the week of Monday, April 27 to Sunday, May 3.  Share any events and activities I may have forgotten, below in the comments!  Don’t forget to subscribe to my blog by e-mail, RSS feed, or twitter!

1. Adopt a Tree for Free – HotBox in Kitsilano will be giving away free Sitka Spruce or Colorado Blue Spruce seedlings to any of their valued customers.  Click here for more details.

2. Andy Warhol Exhibition: A Different Idea of Love – Around 80 prints and paintings from Andy Warhol are on display.  Click here for more info.

3. VIFF Vancity Theatre – Various films being played throughout the week that range from $9 – $11.  Everyone 19+ must have a valid annual Vancity Theatre Membership ($2).  For more information on the films and to purchase tickets, click here.

4. Downsizing Essentials Event – Learn how to get your home ready for resale.  Must pre-registerClick here for more details about the event.

5. Cineplex Tuesdays – All Cineplex theatres on Tuesdays have discounted tickets including premium tickets for 40% off.  An extra 10% off for scene members.

6. Weekly Vinyasa Yoga with CJ –  An hour-long yoga class where you will learn about body awareness and deepen your practice.  Bring your own mat.  All levels welcome.  Click here for more info.

14. Some Assembly Theatre Company and Roundhouse Youth Theatre Action Group Presents: Webs We Weave – A play written and performed by Vancouver Youth.  A play that demonstrates the challenges we all face in our relationships on our journey to fulfilling our need for acceptance, belonging, and love.  There will be a Gala Event on Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 at 6:30pm with live music, a silent auction, and art exhibition before the performance.  Must reserve seats Click here for information about the play.

16. Lafflines Comedy Club – A comedy club located in New Westminster.

18. Commercial Drive Street Party – An event part of the annual Vancouver Anti-Capitalist May Day celebrations, aiming to bring Vancouverites together to reclaim space.  Join in for music, dancing, and a free BBQ.  Click here for more information and details of the event and the event schedule.

25. Gordon MacMillan Southam Observatory – Star gazing at it’s finest!  The observatory has a 1/2 metre Cassegrain telescope to see the night skies!  There is staff there to guide you and answer your questions.  For more info, click here.

26. Surrey Youth Basketball & Breakdance Showcase – A free annual event featuring a city-wide youth basketball tournament, break-dance battles, youth focused resource tables, and more.  The city-wide basketball tournament is open to junior boys (ages 13-15), senior boys (ages 15-18), and girls (ages 13-18).  Click here for more event information and schedule.
