Guaranteed: Exciting, fulfilling, week ahead!  This week is the longest list I’ve created thus far!  You can’t get bored!  The best part is that all of the events are less than $15 per person and there are lots that are free!  The biggest events this week are festivals!  Did I miss the memo?  Is it festival week?  There’s everything from film to writer to ski & snowboard to food truck festivals.  There’s also an expo, fashion events, comedy shows, free concerts, and more!  Be sure to check it all out!  For more details and events, below is a list of “Frugal Fun!” for everyone, for the week of Monday, April 13 to Sunday, April 19.  Share any events and activities I may have forgotten, below in the comments!  Don’t forget to subscribe to my blog by e-mail or RSS feed!

1. Adopt a Tree for Free – HotBox in Kitsilano will be giving away free Sitka Spruce or Colorado Blue Spruce seedlings to any of their valued customers.  Click here for more details.

2. Andy Warhol Exhibition: A Different Idea of Love – Around 80 prints and paintings from Andy Warhol are on display.  Click here for more info.

3. R2R International Film Festival for Youth – A film festival showing culturally diverse and authentic programming for youth.  There will be films, hands-on workshops, interactive panel discussions and public forums.  Click here for event information and schedule.

Price:  Opening Night: Adult – $15, Child/Youth/Senior – $12.  Regular Screenings: Adult – $9, Child/Youth/Senior – $6.  Special Prices: Sunday Fun Day: $5 per person; Groups of 10+: $5 per person (regular screening only).  Handling Charge: $1 per ticket.

4. World Ski & Snowboard Festival – Music, arts, sports, comedy, parties, and lots of other fun events!  The festival has free concerts going on as well, check here for schedule.  Click here for more info.

5. VIFF Vancity Theatre – Various films being played throughout the week that range from $7 – $11.  Everyone 19+ must have a valid annual Vancity Theatre Membership ($2).  For more information on the films and to purchase tickets, click here.

6. Cineplex Tuesdays – All Cineplex theatres on Tuesdays have discounted tickets including premium tickets for 40% off.  An extra 10% off for scene members.

7. Weekly Vinyasa Yoga with CJ –  An hour-long yoga class where you will learn about body awareness and deepen your practice.  Bring your own mat.  All levels welcome.  Click here for more info.

10. Vancouver Aquarium presents Sea Monsters: Fact or Fiction – Learn from Dr. Peter Ross about some of the tiniest “monsters” in our oceans.  For more information on this event, click here.

14. Rio Theatre Late Movie – “Event Horizon” is playing on Friday, April 17.

16. Surrey Vaisakhi/Khalsa Day Parade – A parade with floats, community performers, and music.  There will be free food and music.  Click here for more info.

19. Gordon MacMillan Southam Observatory – Star gazing at it’s finest!  The observatory has a 1/2 metre Cassegrain telescope to see the night skies!  There is staff there to guide you answer your questions.  For more info, click here.
